<reviewbody>I have never had the pleasure of seeing Explosions In The Sky, but this show has fueled my ambition no end. The sound quality is ridiculously clear, taking up a large space on your hard drive, but that is no obstacle to someone so in love with their music. I thoroughly recommend that anyone with the vaguest interest in this awesome band take the plunge and download this show. You'll need Winzip (only to unzip it), Winamp and FLAC if you don't own them already.

They play a spread of their material, and it all gels together very nicely. As always there is no talking to the audience except a brief introduction, however the music speaks for itself. The talking from the crowd throughout the show is nice, and really puts you into the atmosphere. Like those cheering for the last two minutes of the recording, I was desperate for more. Those familiar with the material will know about the loud crescendos that this band build up, but the sound is captured very well, unlike the giant walls of distorted noise I have on other recordings.

Overall I am extremely happy I took the time to download and convert these files. So thank you to whoever recorded it! It's wonderful to hear this beautiful Texan band has a German following.</reviewbody>

The sound quality of this bootleg is pretty cool.

<reviewbody>This is the absolute best Explosions in the Sky bootleg I've ever heard in terms of sound quality, and ranks very high with regards to the show itself. I would definitely recommend downloading it. And thank you to the person who recorded it.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Unfortunately, the sound quality is marred by some distortion in places (which can't be dealt with effectively after the fact), and the EQ could be tweaked. Using a quick and dirty setting in iTunes' Equalizer, this setting sounds much better to me than a flat output (thankfully, iTunes allows you to save EQ preset settings on a per song basis*):

32 : +3
64 : 0
125: -3
250: +2
500: +2
1K : +4.5
2K : +3
4K : 0
8K : 0
16K: 0

I found that boosting the mids helped solidify the guitars. The lowend, in the 125 area, was muddy, so pulling that out a bit helped tighten things up. Throwing in a little in 32 just extended the bass to the basement, but very subtely. The high end is nice as is, so that got left alone.

This setting sounds nice on my AKG K240 headphones...since I listen at work, I can't really verify the sound on other systems.

I'd also like to have seen some basic limiting to bring up the overall volume, so that I don't have to reach for the volume knob everytime i go from another track to one of these, and back. Fortunately, again, iTunes allows you save volume information, but I prefer to have actual waveform compression rather than volume adjustment.

* to save iTunes EQ's, you need to make a preset (set your settings in the EQ window and then hit Make a Preset... from the drop down menu), and then apply it in the Options tabs of a song's Info window. Then, the EQ needs to be on. When the song starts playing, the song's individual setting will override the current EQ setting, which will be reapplied on the next song that does not have a stored EQ setting. One of these days, though, I'll get around to remastering the audio files themselves in Peak so that my computer doesn't have to do extra processing.</reviewbody>
